And you are way out of line. The correct term for social terrorist is rapist. They aren't usually feminists. Yep. A spade is still a bl&&dy shovel Suffragettes were a little different to feminists. Feminist is a more benign term for social terrorist. Philosophical difference here - the point I was making is that you can't change the meaning by changing the word. Portables, became demountables, became relocatables, but at the end of the day, they are still bloody hot, noisy, not "fit for purpose" - sheds. A suffragette became a women's libber, became a feminist, but at the end of they day they are all women who were crapped off by a society that was denying them basic human rights. You can't change the reality by changing the word. Relocatables will be given another name, feminists will be given another name, but nothing else will change. ck -----Original Message----- From: austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Michael Lewis Sent: Tuesday, 22 May 2007 3:17 PM To: austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxx; austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: atw: Re: The Queen's English? Change the words and you change the meaning: that's the whole point. What's the same is the underlying reality. But psychologists argue that perception is reality; if you can change perception by changing the meaning by changing the words, perhaps you really are changing reality, at least the subjective reality of the reader or hearer.
