Janice
That seems to me to be going beyond raising a topic
for discussion and expressing your thoughts about it
and veers into stating as fact what essentially
appears to be solely your opinion given that you
have not cited any evidence to back it up

.......ad infinitum

Janice, you have still completely missed my point. This process is called
brainstorming and many groups, both on-line and off-line manage the process
perfectly well. It's a stage in the lifecycle of a new idea that comes
BEFORE the research. The people doing it are processing externally rather
than internally, which is also recognised as a perfectly legitimate
processing style.

It seems you have missed altogether the potential value of this kind of
discussion. We MUST observe market trends, and we do it as individuals all
the time. Since I started in this business many of us have shifted sideways
many times as the market has shifted. Up until now it has been slow enough
for us to choose a direction in response to the shifts and keep up. Don't
you think it wise to discuss market trends that may now be moving so fast we
might all be choking on the dust?

I am speculating that the Web 2.0 world is about to kill aspects of our
industry. I am not doing this in isolation, but I fail to see the point of
quoting other anecdotal evidence to back my anecdotal evidence. If you want
to add to the debate, tell me that Web 2.0 is not or cannot cause our
industry to change dramatically, and provide YOUR evidence.

I am actually doing YOU a favour by bringing these issues to your attention
and encouraging you to think about them. You can thank me later.

Christine
