atw: Re: The New World Order, Christine's confession (too long for short concentration spans)

Janice,

This is a forum for discussion. Most of us are used to writing in active
voice and making unequivocal statements. If we don't quite express ourselves
in a manner that invites discussion surely that can be assumed from the fact
that we posted our thoughts.

Unfortunately many people on the list are openly derisory which is why many
others just use the list to post announcements or ask for technical help.
It's a pity, because I would like to see a list where open discussion was
encouraged and I'm grateful to Christine for actually having a thick enough
skin to create discussion despite the often unfriendly responses.

Regards
Michelle

It seems you have missed altogether the point I
was trying to make, which is that there is a large
difference between saying "I have observed the
following things and believe they might be signs
of the following trends, what do you think?" and saying
"I have observed the following things and therefore,
the following statements about the future are true."

It seemed to me that you were not encouraging us
to think about them as much as you were demanding
that we agree with you. Judging from the reaction
of others on the list, I was not alone.

I'm happy to discuss observations and what they
might mean for the future. I'm not happy to be
told what to think about them.
