Hi Deborah (Cross).

In Word 2000, for your document:
File > Properties > Summary (tab)
Hyperlink base: (field)

Ensure that this field is clear.

It can cause all sort of problems as you describe, if it is set to a
local drive / directory.

Click OK.

HTH.

If that is not the problem, please get back to me.

Cheers,

Michael

Hi All,

I am having a problem with conversion from Word to PDF, specifically in =3D=

the way file links are converted.

In the original Word document I create a link to a file that is in the =3D=

same folder as the original. This inserts a hyperlink to the file that =3D=

just refers to the file name (a relative reference), eg: "file1.doc".

I then convert the Word file to PDF and save the PDF in the same folder. =
=3D
=20The links are converted to absolute references that specify the whole =
=3D
path of the file, including all the folders involved back to the root of =
=3D
my PC, eg "C://group/projectx/file1.doc".=3D20
