Which in hindsight was of no importance, since you can fly lower at
subsonic speed, and that turns out to be more helpful. But at the time it
was a mark against the B-58. (The USAF obsession with supersonic speed at
low level also contributed to the F-111 fiasco.)
Apparently it actually did pretty well at low-level penetration, but you
could clearly do better at lower cost with an aircraft actually designed
for it.
