OS4 on some machines will start (after usual 10 seconds), flash keyboard, wait (12 seconds), flash keybord, initiate video and whoosh, it'll be booting without even seeming to wait for the flash drive. Perhaps this is what you saw? I mentioned it on the ROOL forums. This is still faster than OS3, but different to what I encountered before. My other test machine seemed to boot extremely quickly. I suspect it relates to the behaviour of the attached USB hub(s)?
