Continuing the clarification of my ignorance… I tried uninstalling both
xiccd and colord-kde, and reverting to colord 1.3.3. I don't need either
installed for dispwin to work.
$ dispwin -I ~/HDD/Computer/Monitor\ profiles/Dell_2412M.icc
works fine still.
