Spiritual Transformation of Women

In our current global environment threatened by war, a declining economy,
and the fears of everyday life, women play a special role in healing the
wounds of our society. Today?s women have the unique opportunity to affect
change both within themselves and on a powerful international level an
opportunity that was not easily afforded to their female ancestors. In
recognition and support of these opportunities and challenges, The
Advancement of Community Through Women (ACT Women) is holding a ?Spiritual
Transformation of Women? Conference on March 28th and 29th. The purpose of
this conference is to help women realize their unique spiritual station in
both the family and in society. When women recognize the source of their
strength, they can learn from each other?s experiences, share discoveries
about the spiritual healing of mind, body, and soul and then become a
source of guidance for others. The conference is to include interactive
workshops, panel discussions, inspirational talks, presentations by women
artists, and musical/dance entertainment. The conference location will be
at the Austin Baha?i Center, 2215 E.M. Franklin Av., with a fee of $10
(lunch included). To participate in this wonderful conference, contact
Felora Derakhshani at actwomen@xxxxxxxxxxx or (512) 633-4460.

Cover the Uninsured Week
March 10-16, 2003
HEALTH INSURANCE IS A JUSTICE ISSUE FOR FAITH COMMUNITIES

Clergy and other religious leaders in Austin will have a unique opportunity
to learn about the state of health insurance in Texas and nationally, and
to think through the role of religious leaders in calling for health care
justice. On Friday, March 14, Texas Impact and Austin Area Interreligious
Ministries, together with many other local religious groups, will host an
interfaith clergy breakfast focusing on health insurance and the uninsured.
The breakfast, to be held from 7:45 to 9:00 am in the Dell Jewish Community
Center auditorium, will feature two nationally recognized speakers. Camille
Miller of the Texas Institute for Health Policy Studies will review current
information and statistics on the uninsured in Texas. Dr. William Greenway
of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary will offer fresh insights into
health care and health insurance as justice issues for religious
communities.

The clergy breakfast is part of Cover the Uninsured Week, a national
movement to focus public attention on the national health insurance
crisis. Religious materials, including sermon notes, model prayers and
scriptural references from many traditions, are available from Cover the
Uninsured Week¹s national organizers. For more information email
