Ed,
If I had a 16 needle Amaya, I could do that. I have an EMT so that won't
work too well. So now your asking, what is he doing in the Amaya group?
Maybe when I get enough business that I can do embroidery full time, I would
like to get something newer in addition to the EMT. (The EMT and Amaya are
similar in some ways and use the same hoops.) But actually the EMT is a very
good machine and I hope to keep it for a while.

You could configure your needles in any combination that you see fit depending on the type of sewing you see more of. Possibly 10 of your needles could be ball point and 6 of your needles could be sharp. Sew on a baby bib or terry cloth towel, use the ball points. Sew on a baseball cap or woman's purse, use the sharp needles. You could possibly find yourself with two spools of each - black, white, etc... thread on the machine at the same time. What ever works best for you at your shop.
