I'm a bit confused here - with a digital signal, you either get it or
not - it's called the "digital cliff".
Well, there's a kind of half-way mushy sound that sounds like boiling mud.
But any kind of buzz, hiss, crackle or woollyness is definitely the
equipment or speakers themselves, not the signal.
