George,
The connection we want to use is the one integral to the mother boards, both
pcs have exactly the same one, so, compatibility shouldn't be an issue.
Knew about the cross over cable from a message you posted on the list a
while ago.
Can't find any program on the list to unblock from firewall, network
framework is unblocked.
Now the connection status on my pc says limited through incompatibility or
lack of connectivity.
Must check cables to make sure they are in the right connectors.
Not now though, beautiful sunshine here must go and enjoy it while it lasts!
Marie

Hi Marie,
I'm confused. If a network card has gone down, is there another RJ45 on that system somewhere?
You should also be aware that if you are connecting 2 PCs with RJ45 cables between network cards, you need a "crossover" cable.
On the other hand, if the PC are connected via a Router, for example, you use a "straight through" or "patch" cable.
This all too often catches people out.
George.
