Hi Steve

Yes that is right, the newer units do not have the power supply. Anyway I have ordered the internal card so I won't have to worry about that now.

Hi Carol,

Looking at the web site, it looks as though you are right. I think when
Brian got his, it was one of the first generation, and required an external
power socket. Now of course, it can run on the USB port.

OK, but those are the only plugs I see on mine. Of course it takes its
juice from the USB so far as I'm aware.

Hi Carol

My box definitely requires power. I did purchase it some time ago but
just have not used the box really until now, so it may be they have
changed the design.

Brian,

Where's the power supply then? I've never found one. Mine has an in and

out aereal an and a USB socket. That's all.

No it needs external power which is again why I would prefer the
internal card. If we get to the stage at any point where we want this
on another PC in another room, then I will get the card and use the USB
wherever that location is.

Hi Brian,

I have one question about the USB version of Nebula. Does it require
external power, or is it powered by the USB port? I have the PCI
version,
and am as happy as you are <Smile>.

Thanks.

Subject: [access-uk] nebula versus USB TV stick

Hi

Well having tried the freecom USB stick again on another PC this
morning and
got completely frustrated at the fact that it just wasn't recording
anything, I decided to get out my Nebula USB digital receiver which I
can
now use as I have a new TV aerial where my computers are.

I have not used the Nebula software for a long time and I installed the
latest version today and I am really glad I did. In my view, there is
absolutely no comparison between the USB TV stick and the Nebula
solution.
All the items with Nebula are accessible, even the programme
descriptions,
and no special configuration is required. It unobtrusively records
programmes, even those with audio description. Furthermore, the
multitude
of options available is quite amazing and all very easy to use.

So I may either let someone such as a family member have the USB TV
stick or
it's going back. The good thing that has come out of me purchasing
this
device is the fact that I have a tV aerial now so I can use the Nebula
box
(smile). The regret I have is that I have the USB nebula box as opposed

to
the internal TV card so it's not quite as tidy. On the other hand, if
I
change my computer, at least I can easily swap it over. But I would
certainly recommend using Nebula to anyone even though I have only been
using it for a couple of hours.
