Hi, The problem I had was that JAWS sometimes sounded crackley through the speakers. A tap of the CTRL key does work quickly enough. It's OK for general everyday use and this shouldn't really put you off. Guess I like something a bit more up market! -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ray's Home Sent: Sunday, February 27, 2005 3:19 PM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: minimum PC specification Hi Colin. Of course I concur with what George has said about a desirable spec for a PC to run JAWS. At the same time, I do recall Carol Pearson, a JAWS user, saying she had issues with her on-board soundblaster compatible sound card as JAWS would not shut up very promptly when pressing the control key or whatever. Don't think she ever found where the problem was, but it could be worth bearing in mind. HTH. What about the sound card issues? Am I correct in assuming that the 'on board sound' in Compact type CPU's are sufficient these days? (Which I assume is why you're using XP Pro.) A full Gigabyte of RAM would however be more comfortable. I'm about to have an ATW assessment for a new job that I'm about to take up in central London, and first I need to stipulate what PC my employer sticks on my desk. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
