Peter, Interesting, but as I said, I'm not the one having the
problems.

I wouldn't dream of using Word to compose messages! Way OTT!

Hi Ray and Alex,
I think if you toggle the following you will find that freelists
commands
are obeyed. I don't know why this happens, but it does to some
freelist
users.
Within Outlook options, try the following... I am sure you should
have
them toggled off.

Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages
Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to read Rich Text e-mail messages

Peter

Hi George

this is very interesting. As said,I am using Outlook 2000, and I've
temporarily set jaws to read all graphics and punctuation. You may be
seeing something that Jaws isn't detecting, so how would I try to find
out
what it is and turn it off?

The most common problem in subscribing, etc., to Freelists is that
many
mailers add chevrons or other characters to the reply such as can be
seen in
Alex's reply below. This breaks up a vital part of the message which
is
actually a command line to tell the list software something.

In most cases, if you temporarily stop this happening, then send your
reply
to freelists, the command will go through.

George.

Hi, I've had no problems subscribing, unsubscribing, etc, from lists
run by
Freelists using Outlook Express/Windows Mail using my Gmail account
via Pop,
so this could be a specific issue to do with either your e-mail
client, your
e-mail provider, or a combination. Hope that helps.
