Hi BillyThank you. But you must do what you feel comfortable with. If you would rather not deal with it as I would, that's perfectly fine.
I wish you all the best, whatever you decide to do. Jackie Jackie Email: cairnsplace@xxxxxxx Skype Name: Cairnsplace----- Original Message ----- From: "TrueBlue & Proud" <billy72@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Jackie, I realise you are a very special lady indeed. The comments you make are so true, but I'm just not convinced a face to face meeting with the manager is the best way to go on with this complaint.Billy----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <cairnsplace@xxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2008 1:47 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: disability bill?Billy, I promise you I'm no typical woman (smile).Honestly though, I don't think it's being unreasonable to want to go to the toilet without having to clamber over furniture and then clean up before you unburden. I would first gauge the manager's response and see what happens.Anyway, the Vi-Gen list is discussing access to disabled toilets just now, so if you want to join in, send the usual blank Email tovi-genaccess-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in the usual way. I'd just go in the pub and ask the manager where he gets his beer from, or, if I fancied being a bit more subtle than that, I'd do a search on the Internet. But, seriously, your best bet would probably be to have a word in his lug and say something along the lines of: "Look mate I'm not being funny, but your disabled toilet is a complete hazard and isn't complying with the purposes for which it was designed. Could I please make a few suggestions about how to prevent vandalism so that it makes it a safer environment for people with disabilities?"Go for it. See what he says. You're not being rude. I took my wife Anne out for a little Karaoke at our local public house. The pub in question has just been taken over and refurnished by it's new owners. The new owners have spent a fortune getting the old place up to scratch, including putting in a disabled toilet, which I thought was a really great Idea. Until I went to use the facility later that evening. First of all. My good lady had Informed me that the disabled toilet was being used by other customers. I thought at first, she was pulling my leg, but when I went into the toilet, I could tell right away, that my wife was quite correct in what she was saying. I was shocked to find the vandals had been in there as well. There was no running water, as the water tap was not working, so you couldn't wash up after you. Also the toilet bowl was damaged so much so, that it was impossible for anyone to sit down and do what ever they had to do, and of course I had to try my best to clean up the filthy mess of Urine sprayed over the bowl itself. If that wasn't bad enough, there were piles of bar room tables and chairs stored in there as well. I had to plough my way through them on my way in and out of the door. I don't mind telling you all, I was a little shaken, when I returned to my wife Anne, so much so, she wanted to complain to the bar staff there and then, but I just wanted to try forget about what had just happened. I just don't understand why there was not some kind of lock on the disabled toilet door. Which would mean any disabled person needing to use the toilet, would have to approach the bar staff for a key. The best of it was. There was another Gents & Ladies toilet in the bar room. I'm not really sure if there is anything in the disability act that would cover such a problem, but if not there should be. PS. I tried to get in touch with the manager next day by telephone, but there wasn't a phone number available for the public house.
