Ron, thanks for the comments, but I'm not sure about contacting the manager,
Billy

To be politically correct the toilet is not disabled. It is a toilet for the
disabled. Wherever possible I use them because there is more room to move
around in them. They are nearly always used by the public and some have baby changing facilities in them. Some places keep them locked and you have to get a key from a till outlet in services on the motorway. You can also get a key from
your local social services for about a fiver.

Sorry to hear about your problem Billy. The best thing is to tell the
management of the pub. Good luck.

Ron

hi guys,
I experienced a really baffling thing last Saturday night. I took my wife
Anne out for a little Karaoke at our local public house.

The pub in question has just been taken over and refurnished by it's new
owners.
The new owners have spent a fortune getting the old place up to scratch,
including putting in a disabled toilet, which I thought was a really great
Idea. Until I went to use the facility later that evening.

First of all. My good lady had Informed me that the disabled toilet was
being used by other customers.

I thought at first, she was pulling my leg, but when I went into the
toilet, I could tell right away, that my wife was quite correct in what
she was saying.

I was shocked to find the vandals had been in there as well. There was
no running water, as the water tap was not working, so you couldn't wash
up after you. Also the toilet bowl was damaged so much so, that it was
impossible for anyone to sit down and do what ever they had to do, and of
course I had to try my best to clean up the filthy mess of Urine sprayed
over the bowl itself.
If that wasn't bad enough, there were piles of bar room tables and chairs
stored in there as well. I had to plough my way through them on my way in
and out of the door.

I don't mind telling you all, I was a little shaken, when I returned to my
wife Anne, so much so, she wanted to complain to the bar staff there and
then, but I just wanted to try forget about what had just happened.

I just don't understand why there was not some kind of lock on the
disabled toilet door. Which would mean any disabled person needing to use
the toilet, would have to approach the bar staff for a key.

The best of it was. There was another Gents & Ladies toilet in the bar
room.

I'm not really sure if there is anything in the disability act that would
cover such a problem, but if not there should be.

PS. I tried to get in touch with the manager next day by telephone, but
there wasn't a phone number available for the public house.
Really annoyed,
Billy & Anne
