Hi Tink
I think Steve has answered your questions on the operation side of the bar
code readers.

All I can add is that I know of a person based in Southampton who users
speaking bar code readers to help her run a business in a general store.
Most of this equipment was provided with access to work funding.

As it was a few years ago I can only assume that she has built up a large
database of products for her barcode reader to identify. Hence she can serve
the customer in the shop without sighted assistance. I know she has lots of
other access equipment to help her manage and run her own business with her
brother.

Regards
Colin
