Or go out there, and do such a good selling job to your prospective employer that he or she isn't going to turn you down. Surely I can't be the only person succeeding in the open jobs market can I? -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Saqib Sent: 30 July 2009 17:31 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: action for blind people employment officers Hi Will. As an employee of a organization, You really shouldn't be airing your thoughts on a public list. I know exactly what you are trying to get accross and it would be better for job seakers to explore avenues as Barbara pointed out that two heads are better than one. I don't think this is about faulse hopes as job seakers know quite clearly that no job is guaranteed to be theirs no matter how good the qualifications are. The best way for a VI person is to go self employed. People like Steve Nutt, Neil Barnfather and quite a few others have gone down this route and have been able to stay a float. Yes some have to graft a little bit harder than others to establish them selves but they do have the satisfaction of being in some form of employment. The high rate benefits that blind folk get is to partly compensate for not being able to work due to obvious reasons. This leads me on to say that the big barrier still hasn't been broken between the VI job seaker and the employer. Officially 75% of the barrier needs to be demolished. ----- Original Message ----- From: "william lomas" <lomaswilliam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, July 30, 2009 5:03 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: action for blind people employment officers > the action for blind people give youf alse hope that job is easy how can > i do that instead i just have to feed rubbish to people and get paid for > it it sad, realy > > On 30 Jul 2009, at 16:47, Tony wrote: > >> When I sought employment years and years ago, I signed up with an IT >> recruitment agency, i.e. as would any IT professional looking for >> employment. >> >> I don't share your sentiments re false hope, you're on to a loser if you >> don't believe in your ultimate success. >> >> >> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf >> Of >> william lomas >> Sent: 30 July 2009 15:49 >> To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> Subject: [access-uk] action for blind people employment officers >> >> >> I am currently working with an action for blind people representative >> to quote help me find a job quote >> What is the purpose of this relationship I have with the worker, since >> all he is doing, is what I do on a day-to-day basis search jobsite, >> total jobs, monster etc. etc. etc. for me >> surely all blind people should be in this role since all we have to do >> is give false hope to candidates and browse the internet all day >> looking for jobs which it is then the responsibility of the candidate >> to apply for >> Peoples thoughts? >> Will >> >> ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- >> ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] >> ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: >> ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> ** and in the Subject line type >> ** unsubscribe >> ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the >> ** immediately-following link:- >> ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] >> ** or send a message, to >> ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq >> >> ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- >> ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] >> ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: >> ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> ** and in the Subject line type >> ** unsubscribe >> ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the >> ** immediately-following link:- >> ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] >> ** or send a message, to >> ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq >> > > ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] > ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > ** and in the Subject line type > ** unsubscribe > ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the > ** immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] > ** or send a message, to > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq > > ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
