Hi Donna,

Yes. If you switch off, then Bluetooth will be disconnected, so you would have
to do that with any display as far as I know.

One thing you could try is to turn on the Esys, then press a cursor routing key
above the word Bluetooth and it may auto connect. You do have to select
Bluetooth before Esys will turn Bluetooth on. This is to conserve battery.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve. Thanks for your reply. Ok I now have the esys connected but when I
switch it off and want to reconnect I seem to be having problems. I always have
to go back into settings and to braille and select esys before it will
reconnect. . is this the way it should be done? Thanks for any help.

Hi Donna,

OK, I assume you are pairing through the normal Bluetooth pairing of iOS 6.
Donât do that. Instead do this.

First go to Settings, General, Accessibility, Voiceover, Braille.

You should find a button called Select Braille display. Before you hit that,
turn on the Esys, and select Bluetooth from the main menu.

Now donât touch the Esys yet. Select the Select Braille device button, and
your phone should start searching for a device. Hopefully it will now find the
Esys.

Select it if it does, then read the screen. The iPhone should tell you it is
paired successfully.

Finally, you may need to hit the connect button.

Give me a ring tomorrow if you are still having problems.

All the best

Subject: [access-uk] Sorry help please connecting iPhone to esys12 braille
display

Sorry for the previous blank message.

Please could someone help. I am trying to connect my Esys12 to my iPhone
running ios6. I went into settings and turned bluetooth on. I then turned on
the Esys display and went to the bluetooth menu and enabled bluetooth. A very
brief message came up on the Braille display saying connecting and then
immediately disconnected, whilst on the iPhone I continually got the message
searching for device, and although I waited some time, no devices seemed to be
discoverable.

No doubt I am doing something wrong or missing out a step, but I really canât
work out what I should be doing. So, if anyone could help me, it would be much
appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Donna
