Hi Ian, A friend of mine recently purchased an Epson scanner/printer. I can't remember the model number but he got it from PC World and paid ninety odd pounds for it. The feature I liked about it over my own Epson 1650, is that the lid is hinged along the length of the machine and is detachable which should be helpful when scanning large books. I was also quite impressed with the scanning speed but not the printing which seemed very sluggish. When he bought it, my friend was told by the salesman it was capable of printing 14 pages per minute so it may be he's got it set up for printing photos. If there's a PC World near you, it might be worthwhile paying them a visit before checking on EBay. Best. Robert. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ian Macrae" <ian.macrae@xxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, November 12, 2004 12:02 PM Subject: [access-uk] SCANNERS Hi all, I'm thinking of asking Santa to bring me a scanner for Christmas to replace my big old HP Scanjet beast. I'm particularly keen to be able to get good scans of books of all sizes. I know that people have previously recommended certain Epson models on this list. Can someone remind me which please? Other than that, are there any others which people would highly recommend? And are there any to specifically avoid? Lastly, are there any which work particularly well with K1000? Cheers now.
