The only problem is if I produce a graph, say with SPSS, I cannot have an instant print dump at that moment, so I am not able to participate in the practical classes.
I feel that would be an option for course work etc if time scale was not a factor.

Mike, I can't comment on your particular piece of equipment. But I have used DSA to pay for tactile maps to be produced as part of my research. If they refuse to consider the equipment, would it be appropriate to ask for costs of production of tactile representations of your graphs by someone like the RNIB?

Hi,
DSA is also an allowance for purchasing equipment which may be required in order for one to have an equal opportunity to complete the course.
The item would be used at home for me to produce graphs, based on statisticle data, and making comment on these graphs.
The University would have no part in helping me to produce these, as they are NOT handouts or course material.
If I do not feel these graphs, how can I make a personal comment on them? Thus, I am at an unfair disadvantage.
If someone in the past has been awarded funding for something like this, I would be interested to know. I have my email address at the bottom.

Speaking as a sighted user, oddly enough I was looking at the Zychem 
pricelist just earlier today.
Tricky one, this. The fuser appears to be about £510, but did you know you can get the sheets processed from 52p each (minimum order £10)?
The lady I spoke to at Sight Village, Ellen Summers, seemed very helpful. You never know, they might even know of a second hand one.
As far as DSA goes, though, I can't really understand your complaint. DSA says: "Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs) provide extra financial help if you want to study a higher education course and have a disability. DSAs are grants to help meet the extra course costs 
students can face as a direct result of a disability".
But you're saying it's for your "independant work at home and has in 
effect nothing to do with the University".

So, from that, I'd say it was probably the case.
