Hi all. I have just bought the NC10 and it's great. I have done the alterations regarding screensavers and have the XP one running. The battery is great. I have got rid of MacAfee and installed AVG. System Access runs great on it. The lady who served ne thought I was buying it for my wife. She didn't think people with low vision could use netbooks. So I then started to tell her about screen readers and she seemed surprised to learn of assistive technology. It's a thankless task educating the sighted. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Scholes" <james@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Eleanor,
I've removed everything to do with Samsung, and the netbook is running as smoothly as ever, if not more so.

James I was thinking of taking the Samsung stuff off OK. Now that I do not
make a mistake is there anything under Samsung that I should retain?

Hi all, for owners of the NC10, here's a few things I've done to my NC10
and its now running much faster! All these settings are optional, if you
like them enabled, leave them on. OK, first, look in the advanced tab of
system settings, and disable all the visual stuff like menu animation.
Then, set all screen savers, desktop backgrounds, themes etc to the lowest
possible settings. In other words, don't have a background, or a
screensaver. Then, uninstall McAfee, and all the Samsung rubbish that
isn't accessible anyway. Finally, set as many things as possible to
classic. Logon screen, start menu, etc, makes boot times much faster.
