MessageI agree. Maybe once they've found that there's a market worth
dealing with for this model, that might come along. I think it would also
be great if they could integrate the technology into the pocket models
around these days. Maybe that will also come later. After all, it took a
while for these types without speech to become available.

Hi Ian,
It would make the new radio much more functional if it had battery operation
as well as mains.

  Hi Ray,

It's my understanding that In Touch is planning a feature. In the
meantime, I'm talking to Pure and passing on information garnered from this
list and from elsewhere to their top marketing banana.

Steve. Maybe you could do a mini review of the new Pure talking DAB
radio yourself? It would be interesting to hear what strengths and
weaknesses it has. I hope feedback will reach Pure on this.

      Hi Ray,

I now have the radio in my house. I have to say that it is really
good, and even spells out the scrolling text that DAB displays. It's only a
very minor shame that they didn't use a text to speech engine, because it
can only spell out unknown words and channels, but overall, it is very good,
and would be well worth an In Touch feature.

      All the best

This is great news Ian. Look forward to an In Touch feature.
Certainly hope it may find its way into the HI-Fi tuners they make.

          Hi all,

Since the announcement of the release of the Sonus1XT with Ivox
speech from Pure, I've asked them whether other DAB products could be
upgraded to incorporate the voice. The Bug, for example can have its
software upgraded via a PC and USB connection. The answer is that the
speech requires a certain amount of extra flash memory which isn't available
on other sets currently, however, they are looking at its wider application
across their product range.

          Cheers now.

          Ian
