Plonkers Trace but that said having lost my phone and Voda (and my insurance on it through Vodafone) were prompt in replacing it. No Talks would not be on it at that point and when I first got my N95, unlike the other customers I could not walk out of the shop with it and start using it. Instead I had to wait a week while talks was put on it. I was promised that when it got back I would be given a full lesson on turning it on where the menus were etc but of course I did not!!! i subsequently damaged the 2nd phone but though it did take a week to sort out, again I was sent a bran new one. Now I read some time back on the Talks list of a member asking Vodafone for the £50.00 and he would get Talks put on his N96 himself. I was very surprised that he could do this so I decided I would try asking Vodafone about it this time round and amazingly they agreed to same for me. This actually meant I was able to have Talks Premium on the phone instead of Talks standard. Now wait for it. I asked why my bill was £56.00 for the month and not £35.00 plus an additional £3.50 for the insurance. Oh, the person on the phone told me, the extra cost is all those 0845 numbers you have been calling. I have never called an 0845 number on any mobile phone whether it was contract or pay as you go. I know the heavy financial losss for that and 0800 numbers etc. I asked him to call the number and to tell me the name of the company. He said he did but it was Bank Holiday Monday and the number was not answering!!! He then deducted this amount from my bill. Well what next? I will shop aroound in December and ask all you good people to advise me about SIM based contracts. I was in 02 shop today and asked about contract with the N96. Now as things stand I have an N96 because Vodafone said they did not have an N95 to give me after I lost my phone in April. 02 said a monthly contract with N96 would be £45.00 per month and the Vodafone one I have is £35.00. Well I guess they call it competition.

Some time a go now I got a phone from voda, I decided to upgrade and so phoned them up, i was promosed that the phone I was to receive would arrive the following day and would have talks loaded. it soon became obvious that the phone didn't talk at all and that it never would as it wasn't a compatible model, i then spent around three or four hours on the phone talking to them about a suitable model, I must have spoken to everyone who was on duty at the call centre that Saturday afternoon, in the end i accepted an old model as they said it was the only one they had in stock and ended up getting talks put on it myself as it would have meant them sending me the phone and then me sending it back to them to have Talks installed on it, it was completely daft, I've never come across such a bunch of people with absolutely no knowledge, it wasn't all down to management, the computers were out dated as to which models were compatible etc.Trace----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Wilson" <barkingbabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 03, 2009 2:59 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Nokia 6124 offer from VodafoneBecause these are probably old stock Eleanor and if I were getting one I'd ask them to confirm they weren't refurbished ones and rather brand new phones never pre-owned.----- Original Message ----- From: "ELEANOR BURKE" <eleanorburke@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 03, 2009 2:50 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Nokia 6124 offer from VodafoneInteresting Jackie, though I am not Barbra. Now I wonder why they don't offer the latest Talks because they are certainly putting the latest Talks on phones for blind. The lady was even able to tell me when I asked her what version of Talks they were now using, and she said Talks 4. I felt she was well informed.e Eleanor----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 03, 2009 2:26 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Nokia 6124 offer from VodafoneHi BarbaraYes I know, I agree. I've been lucky, but have heard very differing reports of customer experiences. I've also heard a rumour that they intend stopping this service, but who knows? The chances are that the model is a year or more old, and no it isn't Talks Premium or the latest version of Standard that they offer. But the point is that they offer it at all, and if people aren't fussy about the latest bells and whistles on a mobile, then it's worth a look. I haven't seen this handset, so can't honestly comment.Jackie Cairns Braille Specialist Email: Jackie.Cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sight and Sound Technology Ltd Welton House North Wing Summerhouse Road Moulton Park Northampton NN3 6WD Telephone: 01604 798024 Fax: 01604 798090 Web: www.sightandsound.co.uk -----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Barbara WilsonSent: 03 June 2009 14:23 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Nokia 6124 offer from Vodafone Hi JackieIt is indeed a great offer and thanks for passing it on. According to the info I have been given, you can purchase the Nokia6124 with Talks Standard for £90, which includes a £10 Pay-As-You-Talktop-up.The phone has a 2M camera, with Internet access, MP3 and all the usualclobber.I've never seen this, so honestly don't know how old it is or whetherit is particularly button friendly. But if it is a phone you are looking for without paying over the odds, then it might do the job. Vodafone send it away to have Talks loaded on it, and you generally get it back within a week or so. Hope this is of some use to any of you.
