Hi Eleanor

If you have enough sight, you could do it yourself. When the reminder
comes up, arrow down to "Yes", and it will tell you that it is going to
restart your machine. When it does, however, it goes into Safe mode, so
doesn't speak at this point. Here, you have to accept the licence
agreement which, again, requires enough sight to be able to do so. Then
the procedure takes about 20 to 30 minutes to back the machine up.
After this time, you are presented with a restart the computer option,
which needs sight to be able to read. Once it restarts, you are in
Windows, and your speech will work again.

My Samsung backup resides on drive D, which is the partitioned drive on
the machine. It chose to put it there by default. Drive D was there in
the first place, the backup software didn't create that partition.

In essence then Eleanor, if you have enough sight to see the screen,
it's easy to do the backup. If you don't, then sighted assistance will
be required.

Will the backup be easy for me to do Jackie or will I need sighted
assistance? I certainly have the 2 partitions, C and D. Does that mean
I have the backup done?

Hi Eleanor

See previous post, but the message normally starts appearing after so
many boots of the machine, and keeps reminding you each time you turn
it
on. There is also an icon in the system tray. I doubt your man in
the
shop would have bothered to do it then, but you never know, he might
have been extra nice! (smile).

Hi Jackie
Did this backup process take place right at the beginning before you
installed all your own software? If not, can you tell me ow to
backup?
I appreciate sighted assistance may be necessary but I am wondering if
the man in the shop when he got it all up and running for me would
have
done the backup then. How would I know if a b backup has been done.
I
do notice that my software is on a different drive tor maybe it is My
Documents that are on a different drive, certainly I have a partition.
I do not have the Netbook with me right now to look up and tell you
exactly but I am pretty sure I have a drive C and a Drive D.

Hi Debbie

It's Samsung's backup utility. Some people remove all this stuff at
the
beginning, but I let it do a backup of everything because I hope it
will
be a kind of restore for all the Netbook's drivers if I ever need to
do
one in the event of something catastrophic happening.

You may need sighted assistance though because, if you arrow down to
check the backup to start, it means your Netbook will start in Safe
mode, and wants you to accept the licence before proceeding. This
means, of course, you have no speech. I took mine into the office
and
got someone to keep an eye on it for me. Once the machine did the
backup and restarted, the message disappeared, and the backup I had
made
now resides on the partitioned D drive.

As I say, you can take it all off, but I didn't because I'm a
cautious
creature in that way and didn't want to risk losing any drivers. The
more bold among us will say otherwise (smile).
