FURTHER BOOKWORM QUESTIONHi Ian, Yes, they are off-the-shelf rechargeables. However, make sure that the Milli-amps rating (MA) is the same. I think those batteries are something like 2300 MA, but I am not sure on that, so just get a pair of peepers to the batteries, and get the same power rating, and you'll be OK. Alternatively, until you do get them, you can put normal alkaline non-rechargeable batteries in, but do not ever plug it into the mains with the non-rechargeable batteries in it, otherwise you could fry it. Since having my Bookworm, I've treated the batteries with due care and attention, allowing them to fully discharge before recharging. However, over the past year I've been using the worm less than previously. This means that the batteries have now fully discharged, to the extent that they won't power up the unit. Last night I tried charging them overnight and checked their status in the info menu option. I was given the message, No Accus. Does this mean that they're shot beyond revivability? If so, can they be replaced with any rechargeables? Cheers now.
