[access-uk] Connecting Sky Plus to a Laptop

Hi All
My son wants to connect his sky plus to his laptop so he can download recordings on his sky hard drive onto his laptop hard drive to burn discs. He says the two machines won't talk to each other. Is there a tutorial to help him do this around somewhere please.
