People have always taped TV programs using their VCR(s) for their personal use. Very strange that Sky makes this operation pretty difficult to accomplish. The most thing I liked about Sky Plus was that I could save a program on it's hard drive, and then burn it to a DVD to keep a copy. Shame that turned to be a false assumption.

Hi,
From what I could find out there is no way of getting the encrypted data
from the hard disk directly to another hard disk on a PC.

The only way that I could see that it could be done is to replay the desired
recording and to capture the recording from the video out of the Sky+ box
into a suitable connection on a PC. This would entail having some sort of
full video capture software on the PC itself.

If anyone knows of a way of doing it I am more than happy to be found
incorrect on this.

This may not be the case with other PVRs.

Hmm, so there's no way of transferring a recorded program to a DVD or a
video tape from the Sky digital box internal memory? That doesn't sound
right. Sorry if I misunderstood what you're saying.

Cheers,
Amro

I looked into this when I first got my Sky+ box and decided there was no
way
of doing it.

You may want to look at the newsgroup uk.tech.tv.sky for further info.

Hi Roger,

As far as I know, you can't connect Sky Plus to any computer. The serial
port is just for Sky engineers.

All the best

Steve

Hi All

My son wants to connect his sky plus to his laptop so he can download
recordings on his sky hard drive onto his laptop hard drive to burn discs.
He says the two machines won't talk to each other. Is there a tutorial to
help him do this around somewhere please.

Many thanks

Roger

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
