Hi Bj,
one or two points:
1. The keys used to mark the cursor position/selection start and selection end
are the square bracket keys [ and ] which are to the right of the letter p on
the keyboard.
2. To delete some audio you have to select one or more tracks and a time range.
3. The track containing the audio which you want to delete needs to be
selected. If you've opened a single audio file from disk to edit, then the
track is automatically selected. Pressing enter toggles whether the track is
selected.
4. One way of moving the cursor to where you want the start of the time range
to be is to press [ during playback, and then press space to stop. To select a
time range from the cursor position to the end of the audio in the selected
track press shift + k. (If there's only one track then you could alternatively
use shift+end, which selects a time range from the cursor to the end of the
audio in all the tracks.). This is very similar to selecting text in a document
where you can press shift + end to select from the cursor position to the end
of the line.
4. Now that you've got a track and a time range selected, you can press delete.

As alternative to giving your laptop flying lessons, you might want to join the
audacity4blind mailing list. Details are in the introduction of the Jaws guide
to audacity which it sounds like you've already found.

David.

original message:
I am running Windows 7 64bit with Jaws 12. I am using Audacity 2.03.

I have tried the above and still nothing. I play the track, hit "p"
for pause, hit "(" (shift+9) and press space to stop. I hit the cut
command (ctrl+x) in a hope the audio to the right of the left bracket
will go... but nothing happens. I've tried enclosing audio in brackets
and hitting cut or delete, and nothing. The instructions seem so
straight forward, but they just don't work!
