Thanks Joe.  Got it already, but I'll keep this in mind for future ref. 
BTW, that's how metapad's faq suggested installing it, but I got dumb
and used metapad's dos autoinstall download, and regretted it almost
from the very minute I did that.  But everything seems to be squared
away now.
