Now that version numbers in these are viewable I guess it was inevitable that
someone would ask the significance!

These numbers are those of the synth that was used to create it. This gives an
indication of what features are likely to be used and you may lose these if you
load a file with *later* version numbers than the program you are actually
running.

For a long time Yoshimi had reported zyn version 1.1 on all these files even
though 2.4 would have been more correct.

We started to include Yoshi versions with 1.3.4 but unfortunately although
the Zyn version was updated in one of the side branches, this never got merged
with master :(

The upshot is that any file with a Yoshi version can be regarded as including
features similar to Zyn 2.4.3.

The current master, and the next release will be tagged with Zyn 2.5 (the Yoshi
version is automatically updated) and has all the features up to Zyn 2.5.2.

This latest update includes just one potential issue when playing old files.
Up to now, the adsynth->voice->filter Q had no effect if the filter type
was 'formant' and the default position for the control was set to 60.
This is now activated and has a dramatic effect. To get the same sound you need
to set it to about 36.

So far I've only come across one instrument file that is affected - one of mine
'Bubbles'.

Right, back to trying to discover why I can't get the command line to update the
part effects gui - system and insertion are fine :(
