Yes, an interesting article. Particularly relevant that the virus hasn’t
necessarily been the root cause of many of the total number of deaths, merely
contributed to bringing them forward.
I can’t see why an easing of the lockdown, which will cause huge damage to the
UK economy if left in place for much longer, cannot simply be achieved by
allowing the under 65/70s back to work while keeping us oldies in prison for a
much longer period - we contribute little to the economy and it seems are the
most vulnerable and if allowed to roam freely will generate an unnecessary
burden on the NHS.
....easy for me to say with food in the fridge and plenty to do in the garden
(!) and of course much less easy for many, but I think there is some logic in
this...

Thanks Antony. I also enjoyed the article about Covid, but I think a
government that allowed the NHS to collapse under the weight of the dying -
not enough ventilators to go round etc - would not survive

Sorry David for being late on this.
Alphabet (ie Google) currently trading at $1530, a price 21% of its 12 month
high and equivalent to the price level in July 2019.
No doubt the price has been marked down with the an anticipated decline in
advertising revenue during the Covid10 disruption and also the prospect of a
worldwide recession.
However with the impact of the lock down on the increased use of households
of the internet for shopping etc, (even the Japanese, I read, historically
resistant to this are being persuaded of the benefits of internet shopping),
it seems clear that the prospects in the medium and long term for Alphabet
are as strong as ever.
Google is also involved with worldwide institutions including the NHS to
develop an app to track the spread of Coronavirus. While this may of may not
provide an additional earnings opportunity, it certainly is good PR for the
company, enhancing their position at the top table of responsible and
critical businesses.
A very strong hold.
