Monthly Meeting Notes, Wednesday, October 16, 2019

Review Kids Safety Day
We felt it went great! Table staffing went well. Good to hand out so many
slap bracelets: 137.
We need to be prepared with stickers or trinkets to hand out for passport.
(Question: Is it the group’s responsibility to have stickers, or do the
organizers provide them to vendors?)
Recommendation for interaction: Just one person should be speaking to
someone at a time, without others jumping in.
Would like to pass out more Safe Walker sheets, not just at Safety Day but
in general. We can get these from the Bicycle Coalition whenever we want.
Solution for holding big signs better in windy conditions? Especially the
bottoms, if the wind comes up from the bottom? Much discussion of options,
including a wooden sawhorse type of thing that they could be attached to.
A-frame, sandwich board?
Bylaw Discussion
Kim’s agenda template should be used by the Secretary.
Didn’t have print-outs, so John reviewed what we discussed last time.
Adopting Robert’s Rules of Order. John may want to link these on the web
site.
Got through the discussion!! We will send out the updated document to the
email list for review, suggestions, and objections, then we will vote them
up or down at the November meeting.
Code of Conduct should be posted to the website. John will update it at
some point.
Winter Priorities
Reviewed Priority Locations list.
Question for Arty: When the problem is a result of private plow drivers, do
you still want to know about this for cleanup?
Robert suggests letter to private businesses, reminding them that private
plow drivers should not be leaving snow on sidewalks, and requesting that
businesses shovel it if that happens. Some other organization could help
distribute, such as DDW, Economic Dev office, City of Westbrook, etc. LeeLee
will start email thread asking for topic suggestions.
John will review Westbrook shoveling ordinance.

Chief Roberts will attend in November.

We will meet in November, 11/20. (Thanksgiving is 11/28.)

Update on Pedestrian Forum intersection improvements: DOT suggestions
are circulating within Westbrook Public Services for feedback, then will be
sent back to the DOT for them to finish the document, then a public
meeting will be scheduled. No target dates indicated.

LeeLee says she needs to reorder business cards.

Also, we need to continue on the pamphlet. Robert has many ideas for
places to post them.
