Hello all,
The Discover Downtown Westbrook Design Team has been working with the
Bicycle Coalition of Maine in an effort to test ways to slow traffic,
improve safety & enhance walkability on Main Street. BCM learned
yesterday they are a recipient of an AARP 2020 Challenge Grant

This grant will help us implement BCM's *Imagine People Here*
<https://www.bikemaine.org/advocacy/imagine-people-here/> program on Main
Street.
This program will allow for temporary installations narrowing the turning
radius at five spots:
● The crossing at Pleasant Street
● The crossing at Stroudwater Street
● The crossing at Dunn Street
● The crossing at Giles Street
● The crossing at the Riverbank Park access road

The Design Team & BCM are looking for some volunteers to help with the
installation *September 3*. We're looking for volunteers between the
hours of 9a - 4p with a maximum of eight (8) people at any one time.
Volunteers will be asked to do things like paint, install bollards,
clean/sweep the street - nothing too intensive but it is a bit time
consuming. If you can lend a hand at any part of the day, please let me
know.
We'll be following appropriate social distance & masking protocols and
volunteers will be provided high visibility vests. This is a good
opportunity for students, Scouts & similar groups looking for service
hours. If you know of such groups, please forward this message to them.
