Kerry, I would describe this birds as a possible intergrade. (The term hybrid doesn't really apply here, since both forms are considered the same species.) I wouldn’t call this an "Audubon's" for a couple of reasons: one is that there is a hint of a supercilium (pale eyebrow) present; and two, that the pale throat patch extends back a ways under the auriculars (cheek) patch. "Audubon's" typically lacks the supercilium, and the pale throat should only extend as far as the bottom front point of the auriculars, creating a more rounded throat patch. Cool bird, though -- and very nice photos! Just curious, would the attached be photos of Audubon's subspecies? Or a possible hybrid? Or is the yellow on the throat just an anomaly? This little cutie graced our yard yesterday, filling up on insects that were congregated on the garage roof and eaves. We have seen the yellow throated yellow rumped individuals in Colorado - it is a bit freaky at first to see that throat color on a yellow rumped warbler. I would like to add this sighting to eBird. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25442634@N07/10270593514/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/25442634@N07/10270683216/ Thanks for your thoughts, Kerry Sehloff NE Fond du Lac County #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
