Folks,

I'm going to be in the Bay Area of California for a conference at the
end of October, and I'm going to have one day free (with a car) to do
some birding. Would anyone care to recommend places for me to go to
make the best use of my limited time? I'll be staying in Palo Alto,
and I assume I want to head for the coast. I've birded a bit in
Southern CA, but are there species in the Bay area I should try to
make it a point to look for?

I have some lists of sites I've gleaned from California birding web
pages, but nothing's jumped out as the "one place to go if you've
only got a day", except perhaps for Point Reyes.

Thoughts?

Thank you,
--
