Could someone give me ID info on Juncos? Some visiting my yard are very definite black/white contrast, while others have a noticeably darker head. Others are more brown with light areas on wings. I also have pics (bad) of one with a dark grey head, brownish "mohawk" and brown wings and sides. I went to Iowa over the weekend and driving south on Hwy. 35 toward Ames, the grassy edge of the road is lined with white feathers. We saw this either last year or the year before in the same area, same time of year. It goes on for miles! There are fewer as we get closer to Ames. Anyone know what this is about??
