On the facebook page, there has been a lot of sparrow sightings of LeConte's and Nelson's. People are really hitting the fields, which is great. One thing that I'm noticing is that all the sights have a common feature. No trees! The ones I've visited are quite open. Moist or wet areas nearby seems to be a plus, but not a necessity. We have 4 spots in our area that have had one or both of these sparrows. There are probably a few more that haven't been checked. There was a article about nesting field birds that mentioned how they did better with out treelines etc. Food for thought, Steve Thiessen Stoughton Dane co. #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
