Greetings fellow birders, This morning, I heard sounds that belie the fact that this is January,18,2010. I heard a male northern cardinal singing his spring song, and several am.goldfinches. The local juncos were cavorting about like it was spring. Poor things must have frozen brains. I tried to take on the solstice challenge, hoping the birdsong would change after the solstice, but I was disappointed by the lack of any good songs. Today was the activity I had hoped for then. The days are getting longer, but as my relatives from lower latitudes remind me, 25 is still pretty cold! best, cg Claudia Giamati Chippewa Falls(mailing address) Chippewa County "A knowledge of the path cannot be substituted for putting one foot in front of the other." -- M.
