I stepped outside this morning before sunrise and heard a woodcock peenting
in the marsh below our house. Over the years I have had them stop over
here before but they never stay. The marsh is still frozen with a fair
amount of some snow cover but I assume that this bird is finding something
to eat by the springs and small creek that flows from the largest one.
It's been several years since I have recorded woodcock on my land. Nice to
hear even if it was a very cold morning with temps in the teens.
