Fox River Park - Intersection near County I & H Waukesha - as noted from earlier post: Parking lot nearest entrance, blacktop path into woods - take first mulch path to right - I found the bird about 5 yards ahead on the right about 5 yards in, digging / running around leaf clutter & over under downed trees. Temperature: 45oF SW wind 13-15 mph Cloudy Cold Received the following message from Anne Moretti regarding Worm Eating Warbler this morning: . Several of us went over to Fox River Park to look for the Worm-eating Warbler. Eventually we were able to see 3 of them flying around and foraging on the trees. We heard their song and chip notes, which do sound a lot like chipping sparrows, but not in this case, as we watched one sing. . And from Curt Jacoby and Tim Hahn's WisBird posting - other detail to find this area. I arrived around 3:30 PM and a pair of birders were just leaving who had seen it about 30 minutes earlier. Entering the woods I met Sandy Pearson who was looking for WEW to no avail. She toughed it out but it was cold & she left about 4:30 PM; there was virtually no bird activity or sounds in this area - robins & a woodpecker. Around 5:30 PM, Kinglets, Yellow-rumps, Chickadees, and WB Nuthatches all of a sudden started activity all around me, and robins were foraging on the ground. In following the robins, I saw one WEW near one of the robins also searching the forest floor debris and watched it for about 20 minutes about 10-15 feet away, exactly as photographed by Curt Jacoby. No chipping call or peeping of any kind. I left just before 6 PM.
