When I lived in St. Louis County in Missouri. There was a fall flood. Everyone was blocked out of the county roads in St. Charles County between the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. When we finallt got to go in there there were cornstalks hanging from the telephone wires along all the roads. I think this was 1993. There was great birding when the floods receded. But the flock of Eurasian tree sparrows that were always found at Riverlands across from Alton, IL were missing. I ran into Aaron Holschbach on Peck Rd this AM early > and he said the creast at Portage is the highest on record. On Peck Rd this am was Merlin and Perigrine Falcon, and lots of Swamp and Song Sparrows, a Lincoln and White-crowned Sparrow, Sora Rail, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Palm Warblers, Common Yellowthroats. Aaron may have had other species on the wing or by flight calls. > > John Romano > Madison Wis > > > > #################### > You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn). > To UNSUBSCRIBE or SUBSCRIBE, use the Wisbirdn web interface at: //www.freelists.org/list/wisbirdn. > To set DIGEST or VACATION modes, use the Wisbirdn web interface at: //www.freelists.org/list/wisbirdn. > Visit Wisbirdn ARCHIVES at: //www.freelists.org/archives/wisbirdn. > > #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
