Today was a very blustery day of counting raptors, with the wind gusting up to 39mph, and temperatures (at Thompson Hill) just maxing out at the freezing point. Despite the harsh conditions, some raptors did move through the area. I counted 72 raptors today, which raised our season's total to just over 4,500 raptors as of today :-) https://www.hawkcount.org/day_summary.php?rsite=543&ryear=2011&rmonth=04&rday=14 I've added a few new photos to my 2011 spring raptor count gallery, which can be found below: http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/duluth_spring_raptor_count_2011 One of the biggest highlights of the day was seeing a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK diving on a distant NORTHERN GOSHAWK. It was nice to see a goshawk, as the last one observed this spring was nearly two weeks ago. Here is a photo of a Northern Goshawk taken at Hawk Ridge two years ago. Enjoy! http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/119465434 Good birdwatching, Erik Bruhnke Duluth, MN *NATURALLY AVIAN* www.pbase.com/birdfedr www.naturallyavian.blogspot.com birdfedr@xxxxxxxxx #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
