Hello all, I was pleasantly surprised in this winter of few finches to find a flock of about 24 White-winged Crossbills feeding on tamarack cones in Long Road Bog in northwestern Portage County. There was also a small group of 7 Purple Finches feeding on tamaracks cones as well. Other local birds of note include 6 Bald Eagles below the Dubay dam and a lone male Hooded Merganser hanging out with the Common Mergansers below the New Page dam in Stevens Point.
