Today the number of states with human infections is 42. It's worst in US 
history. Birders, I would like to provide a few resources for you are when out 
in the field. Please be careful.
Here's the CDC's vertebrate ecology on the transmission cycle of West Nile 
Virus. West Nile (WN) virus is amplified during periods of adult mosquito 
blood-feeding by continuous transmission between mosquito vectors and bird 
reservoir hosts.
