A nice day out at Vernon Marsh despite horribly windy weather with windtunnel-like conditions that made it impossible to hear anything at times. BW teal were everywhere in the marshes, and in the open water I was able to pick out some other stuff as well. Nice selection of passerines too up from the marshes, but some surprising misses like phoebe. The weather certainly wasn't on my side. Highlight was a VIRGINIA RAIL that was walking around, and then another one called a little ways off and the one I was watching responded in kind. A new one for me. -Mike Duchek, Waukesha, Waukesha Co. -----Original Message----- From: do-not-reply@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, April 17, 2011 2:09 PM To: mikeduchek@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: eBird Report - Vernon Marsh--Frog Alley Dike (Greenwing Marsh) , 4/17/11 Location: Vernon Marsh--Frog Alley Dike (Greenwing Marsh) Observation date: 4/17/11 Number of species: 31 Canada Goose 60 Mallard 2 Blue-winged Teal 80 Northern Shoveler 3 Greater/Lesser Scaup 30 Bufflehead 2 Ruddy Duck 6 Great Blue Heron 1 American Kestrel 1 Virginia Rail 2 American Coot 4 Sandhill Crane 12 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 1 Downy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 1 American Crow 2 Tree Swallow 15 Barn Swallow 2 Black-capped Chickadee 5 White-breasted Nuthatch 1 Brown Creeper 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3 American Robin 4 Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle) 5 Chipping Sparrow 1 Savannah Sparrow 2 Song Sparrow 7 Northern Cardinal 2 Red-winged Blackbird 30 Common Grackle 3 Brown-headed Cowbird 1 American Goldfinch 4 This report was generated automatically by eBird v2(http://ebird.org/wi) #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
