Very content Sharp-shinned Hawk. This bird is a survivor!! Note the large crop (food-holding area in throat), plus the prey this bird is carrying - all while migrating: http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/134061823 http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/134061825 Another 2nd-cycle Bald Eagle, coming at the camera: http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/134061819 Adult Bald Eagle: http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/134061821 American White Pelicans: http://www.pbase.com/birdfedr/image/134061817 Although I'd love to count the raptors until the end of the season, I will teaching a field ornithology course soon (for the spring term), then will be off to do some breeding bird transects & surveys throughout the prairie potholes of North Dakota for the summer months. This current spring has been so incredible, and it's just amazing how much one learns about birds and bird ID, when you're in the field, there in-the-moment, soaking up the birds as they go by! Will keep you posted on how my field ornithology class is doing this may at Northland College. I'll be sure to keep in touch from time to time this summer, share some more photos here and there - and hope to see you at Hawk Ridge next fall :-) Good birdwatching, Erik Bruhnke Duluth, MN *NATURALLY AVIAN* www.pbase.com/birdfedr www.naturallyavian.blogspot.com birdfedr@xxxxxxxxx #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
