5 people from the Eau Claire/Menomonie area are looking for a woman to fill
the final spot on an African birding safari this November.December. We had
a cancellation due to COVID concerns, byu the other five are still
committed to going as scheduled.
The tour is led by Cisticola Tours and Washington Wachira (whom I REALLY
like), a native Kenyan. The tour departs the US Nv 18th and departs Kenya
Dc 8th. The itinerary is excellent, with a strong possibility of 500 spp of
birds and 50 or so spp of mammals. The itinerary (attached) includes the
exciting Masai Mara and the Kakamega Forest, Kenya's only Guineo-Congolian
Equatorial forest habitat.
Price is $4795 plus airfare, drinks, and tips for 16 nights.
We are looking for a woman to room with the only other woman, my friend
Cindy Schlosser. The rest of the party is myself, and my friends Paul
Wagner, Dave Linderud, and Wil Taylor.
As a group, we are all 66 or younger, in good shape, and of a
progressive bent. We take bird conservation seriously and are keen on
combating Climate Crisis. Two of us have experience with Swahili, though
the main language in Kenya is English. As birders we range from willing and
eager to very experienced. We will likely be travelling out of Minneapolis,
but that is not a prerequisite for inclusion. We cancelled the tour plans
in 2021 due to COVID, but the Kenyan forecast is quite positive (especially
when compared to the US or the rest of Africa) so we are optimistic. We
must make a decision within a week!
