While not relating to Wisconsin birds, this is still pretty fascinating. As many of you are doubtless aware, native birds on islands are especially vulnerable to introduced predators. Guam, in particular, is plagued by brown tree snakes, which have decimated the local bird populations. The USDA has come up with an innovative approach to reduce the snake population using dead mice packed with, of all things, acetaminophen (aka Tylenol), which is lethal in high doses. Here's a link to a short news story about this (the link may wrap over two lines, in which case you may need to copy and paste it into your browser search window): http://www.channel3000.com/news/Deadly-mice-to-rain-down-on-Guam-snakes/-/1648/19119346/-/tiyxtk/-/index.html Peter Fissel (wishing he was in in Guam right about now) Madison WI #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
