Regarding Noel's post yesterday about a person reporting a Shrike and
submitting a photo of a Catbird,  I can relate a story on a lighter note that
happened this morning.   I was walking along the University Bay path in
Madison. and was talking  on my cell phone to one of the persons who had
donated money to Folklore Village in exchange for
a bird trip that I would lead. I saw a groups of birders and some bicycles
- Dave Fallow immediately ducked behind a couple of the bird watchers so I
would not see him.  I passed by looking the other way and saw a downy
woodpecker and said - looks like a downy or maybe a nuthatch - I can't tell the
difference between the two. That got a laugh out of Dave ( and on the other end
of the phone a " You don't know the difference !!' )

is a blog by Dave Fallow.  It might be especailly interesting to folks in
Madison doing BIGBY's - and to anyone for that matter as Dave is not just a
bird expert but a well rounded naturalist. " Birking"  is the term Dave uses
for birding by bike.
